President Tran Dai Quang visits voters.

At the meeting with voters of President Tran Dai Quang and Delegation Group No. 1 – Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly Delegation – on December 1, veteran official Ho Quang Chinh (residing in District 3) assessed and evaluated the time.

`I also approve of the National Assembly’s activities for democracy, greater openness, transparency and issuing very good Resolutions. These things have regained the people’s trust,` Mr. Chinh said.

However, he also expressed his hope that the Central and Government leaders will set a good example of diligence, thrift, integrity, and righteousness and continue to be stronger and more resolute in preventing corruption.

`Comrades, remember that there are more than 90 million people standing behind. I agree with the spirit of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, but we must find someone to light the stove so that both dry and fresh firewood can burn quickly,`

Voter Nguyen Quang Chinh petitioned the President about preventing corruption.

Ms. Phan Thi Bich (residing in District 4) raised questions about some recent corruption cases that have not been satisfactorily resolved, causing frustration among people such as the case of Mr. Pham Sy Quy (former director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Yen province).

Female voters also believe that the process of recovering corrupt assets is still weak.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Chau (District 3) approved of the Resolutions and plans of the Central Government and the Government to streamline the apparatus to focus people’s tax money on development investment.

`The dissolution of the three Steering Committees for the Northwest, Central Highlands, and Southwest because of waste has been agreed upon by a large number of people. There are leaders in Ho Chi Minh City who are heads of dozens of steering committees but cannot remember them all.

Sharing opinions with voters, the President said that the fight against corruption has achieved some positive results, strengthening people’s trust.

Mr. Tran Dai Quang also informed that the authorities are focusing on handling 23 cases, and will continue to handle other cases.

The President acknowledged that the streamlining of the apparatus is still modest, cumbersome, and ineffective.
