One day in early April, Mr. Chu Dinh Hoa (73 years old, Nghe An) left a letter to his wife and children before starting his journey through Vietnam.

To Tien Dat, Mr. Hoa is an uncle, grandfather, and friend who always listens and understands his interests and passions better than his parents.

Dat and Mr. Hoa’s trip started from Nghe An, along Highway 1A through many beautiful sea routes to Vung Tau, Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City before running back to the Central Highlands and Central region.

When he was in high school, while visiting the village temple, Dat had the opportunity to listen to `Mr. Hoa` tell stories about culture and Buddhism.

Previously, the two soul mates had arranged to go to the South to visit Mr. Hoa’s orchard, but due to poor health, until his death, Mr. Dat was still unable to do so.

`My grandfather has passed away for a long time, but the promise to go out with his old friend is still there. So I offered to take him across Vietnam, also for him to fulfill his wish to visit the battlefield.`

The day their trip was announced, their plan faced opposition from two families.

The trip had no schedule or detailed plan, mainly based on Mr. Hoa’s wishes. When we were tired, we stopped to rest.

Dat said that through Mr. Hoa’s destinations and stories, he learned many things about a heroic resistance period of the nation.

`At that moment, a sense of pride shone in his eyes like he was a recognized artist, no longer a `crazy person` who wandered around making musical instruments all day like the villagers said. That really made me feel.

As for Mr. Hoa, the trip with Dat helped him fulfill his greatest wish in life, which is to go to the Central Highlands and Hue capital to meet artists, especially Meritorious Artist Vu Lan, to learn and perfect the flute.

Previously, because of his passion for music and making musical instruments, Mr. Hoa was often considered `crazy` by others.

`Standing in front of the stone steles, I reported to the spirits of my comrades that I had successfully made a musical instrument that only needed to be blown with the lips, so that the music of the brotherhood’s era would reveal the people’s belief in liberation.

Their trip ended at the end of April, both are healthy and safe.
