Surveying the hospital on the afternoon of August 1, Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long said that this place will have 2,300 beds, of which at least 500 intensive care beds will be set up for serious patients.

With the biggest goal of reducing the number of deaths in people with Covid-19, the Ministry decided to establish 4 recovery centers for severe and critical Covid-19 patients in the city.

Another center, deployed by Viet Duc Hospital, is preparing 500 beds to receive patients in the next 5 days.

Mr. Long said he is mobilizing the total equipment of the health sector, including ventilators and other machines.

`Basically right now, we have enough to meet these centers,` Mr. Long said.

The Ministry of Health delegation surveyed at Field Hospital No. 16, on the afternoon of August 1.

Doctor Do Ngoc Son, Deputy Director of A9 Emergency Center, Bach Mai Hospital, said the situation here is very good when deploying a field hospital, but there is still a lot of work to do before establishing a field hospital.

`The task is very heavy,` said Dr. Son.

This morning, Bach Mai Hospital delegation worked with leaders of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, agreeing on items that need to be renovated to set up 500 hospital beds in the next 48 to 72 hours.

Having helped fight the epidemic in Da Nang, Bac Giang, and Hai Duong, Dr. Son said that Ho Chi Minh City is the hottest spot ever, with a large number of patients and a large number of seriously ill patients.

At 6 a.m. this morning, a train carrying 10 tons of medical equipment departed from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City for installation at Field Hospital 16.

Ho Chi Minh City is applying a 5-storey tower treatment model instead of 3 or 4 floors as before.

Ho Chi Minh City currently has 3 major recovery places: Covid-19 Recovery Hospital, Cho Ray and Tropical Diseases Hospital.
