The Korean Football Federation (KFA) announced the dismissal of coach Jurgen Klinsmann on February 16 after less than a year of cooperation, although the original contract lasted until July 2026.

Coach Jurgen Klinsmann (center) received a lot of criticism during his time leading the Korean team.

Klinsmann did not complete the task of helping Korea win the 2023 Asian Cup, losing 0-2 to Jordan in the semi-finals.

Another coach who lost his job due to not completing his duties was Branko Ivankovic, after Oman was eliminated in the group stage.

In contrast to Klinsmann and Ivankovic, Tajikistan’s Petar Segrt and Juan Antonio Pizzi parted ways despite helping the team achieve good results at the 2023 Asian Cup. Pizzi helped Bahrain lead Group E with South Korea and Jordan before losing 1-3 to Japan.

Meanwhile, Petar Segrt was unknown before the 2023 Asian Cup but then received a lot of attention for his appearance like the late famous physicist Albert Einstein and strong leadership ability.

Some coaches also facing questions about their future in the Asian Cup include Roberto Mancini (Saudi Arabia), Hajime Moriyasu (Japan), Philippe Troussier (Vietnam) and Aleksandar Jankovic (China).

Euro 2020 champion Mancini left a negative image when he left the tunnel early when Saudi Arabia lost to South Korea in the round of 1/8 penalty shootout, and Moriyasu could not help Japan win the championship when losing to Iran in the quarterfinals.

When learning that coach Klinsmann was fired, Moriyasu said that the coaching profession is a difficult world.

Coach Hajime Moriyasu has led the Japanese team from 2018 to present.

Coach Troussier also received patience from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).

China was eliminated from the group stage but the country’s Football Association has not yet made a move to fire coach Aleksandar Jankovic.
