Cambodian Minister of Interior Sar Kheng, who is also Chairman of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking (NCCT), said on August 26 that authorities from the beginning of the year to August 20 had verified 87 suspected human trafficking cases,

In August, Cambodian authorities launched 7 operations, rescuing 25 victims from 6 countries, and arresting 23 suspects who are citizens of 4 different countries in the provinces of Preah Sihanouk, Pursat, Svay Rieng and Oddar Meanchey.

Based on the testimonies of 865 rescued victims, the Cambodian Ministry of Interior identified recruitment fraud rings with masterminds in Cambodia and members abroad.

Mr. Sar Kheng said that Cambodian authorities have received many complaints from foreigners, as well as foreign representative agencies, for more than a year about rescuing victims of human trafficking crimes.

Cambodian authorities have carried out rescue operations, waived fines for their illegal entry, and then deported these people according to regulations.

Minister Sar Kheng expressed sympathy for the victims and condemned the inhumane act of human trafficking.

He affirmed that the Cambodian government maintains its strong commitment to combating online fraud, drug crimes, money laundering and illegal online gambling, and continues to support Cambodian citizens trafficked abroad.

NCCT recently implemented an action plan to strengthen the fight against all forms of human trafficking, labor trafficking and sexual exploitation, as well as establishing a command committee to direct activities to suppress human trafficking crimes,

Minister Sar Kheng called on the domestic and international community, foreign representative agencies in Cambodia and officials of relevant countries to continue providing information related to human trafficking crimes and other types of transnational crimes.

Many complexes as technological complexes or economic and commercial centers are springing up densely in Cambodia.

Cambodian media said that in the past three months, hundreds of victims have been rescued from complexes, but thousands more are still trapped.
