All five Bugattis in the Top 5 were produced before 1939. Three of these were sold at the same auction.

The oldest car model on the list is the 2001 Ferrari 550 GT1 Prodrive, priced at 4.29 million USD, also the only Ferrari in the Top 10. The oldest is the 1928 Bugatti Type 35C, priced at 5.23 million USD.

The first two B.A.Ts, although based on Alfa Romeo cars, had no official figures or support from Alfa Romeo.

The concept trio was sold to a Japanese collector in 1990 for 18 million USD, then resold at an auction 4 years ago and only earned 14 million USD.

The Type 55 borrowed the chassis, 8-spoke alloy rims and supercharger with twin cam inline 8-cylinder engine from the Bugatti Grand Prix models.

When new, the Type 55 was driven by Guy Bouriat and Louis Chiron at the 1932 Le Mans race for the Bugatti team.

Currently, the Type 55 has had its old engine replaced, and the car also had an accident in the 1990s but still retains its original body and chassis.

There were 3 Bugattis sold at Gooding & Company’s September 2020 auction, and all three were bought at record prices.

What’s impressive is that the 92-year-old car still wears the paint from 88 years ago, although the car has been technically restored to ensure it can still be used.

This Type 55 Super Sport is one of only 14 cars to leave the factory with a convertible design.

This 89-year-old Bugatti model is also the most expensive car sold in Amelia Island (USA) in 2020.

Unlike the two Bugatti cars sold at the auction in September 2020, the Type 57S Atalante model is not a racing car and has been restored.

Only one of the 17 Type 57s had the Atalante body style designed by Jean Bugatti, and when new was sold to Earl Howe, a prominent businessman at the time.

The car was in a garage in Newcastle from the early 1960s until it was found in 2007. Bonhams auction house sold this Type 57 in Paris, France in 2009 for 4.4 million USD.

The most expensive Bugatti ever sold at auction, the Type 59 Sports is also the last pre-war Bugatti racing car.

But before that, the Type 59 participated in the Grand Prix and won the race in Belgium.
